On Saturday, May 14, Zephyr Projects presented TOUCH OF SPRING, a one-night exhibition showcasing a hybrid of fashion photography and visual art by Paris Helena and Bryan Meador at Makers Mess in Los Angeles. Combining photography, painting, and collage, TOUCH OF SPRING is the culmination of a creative dialogue spanning eight months and nearly 2500 miles.
Each image is available as an affordable 11 x 14 inch print from an edition of 10. For print inquiries and additional information about remaining mounted works from the exhibition, please email email@example.com.
Bryan Meador and Paris Helena first met while working at the New York studio of acclaimed photographer Mark Seliger, who joined the artists in LA for the opening reception. Following her experience at Seliger Studio in the winter of 2014, Paris Helena returned to Los Angeles, shifting away from her modeling career in pursuit of photography.
The collaboration between Meador and Helena began with a photoshoot at her studio in Los Angeles. As Helena explains, “I had long admired Bryan’s aesthetic and always hoped we would create something together. I photographed the model with the intention of creating a series of clean yet evocative images — photographs that could serve as a foundation for Bryan to work his magic as he would on a blank canvas.”
Helena then shared the photographs with Meador, who responded to the photographs by adding fresh, complex layers to the images. “With a long-term collaboration, it can be easy to lose momentum. I experimented with a handful of ideas before bringing natural elements into the compositions. In time, the work evolved into a meditation on Spring, which kept the momentum going through the New York winter,” says Meador.
In addition to the display of mixed media works, TOUCH OF SPRING marked the release of two limited editions by Zephyr Project: a softcover book and a bandana.* Process Book traces the process of visual discourse between artists leading up to their exhibition. The bandana features a digital painting by Bryan Meador, who is represented by Zephyr. *While the bandana is now sold out, signed copies of the book are available for purchase here.
